The Greatest Works of Surreal Art

Surrealism is usually thought of as a cultural, rather than specifically an artistic movement.  It began in the 1920’s as an offshoot of various Dada activities (an anti-war and anti-establishment political and artistic movement founded in Zurich).  It comprises of a large variety of juxtaposed images and philosophical writings.  One of the leaders of surrealism was a man called André Breton and it was his belief that surrealism was above all a revolutionary movement.  Surrealism was founded in Paris and soon became a worldwide discipline.
